Screen Printing

Many of Warhol's pictures were produced using the technique of photo-silk screen printing, manipulating the photographic image, the most ‘truthful’, to create works that could be made repeatedly, depersonalised and mechanical. “I want to be a machine”, he said. Warhol used the ready-made: magazines, for the colour images and glamorous icons, newspapers for the black and white ‘factual’ pieces.
